While getting more specific about the installation, I’ve revised the circuit as shown:

There are, in fact, two Coleman powered coolers in the back of the vehicle. Currently, one of them is plugged into a 12 VDC outlet in the cargo area; the other is plugged into a power socket on the console (snaking the cord under the back seats). The new circuit provides local power connections for the refrigerators, and includes a voltage display so the charge of the deep cycle battery can be checked.
| Qty | Price | Desc | Source | Specs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $129.00 | Trojan 27TMX deep cycle battery | Battery Systems | 27TMX |
| 1 | $84.50 | Automatic isolation switch | PowerStream | |
| 1 | $30.14 | LCD voltage display 6-18 VDC | DigiKey | |
| 2 | $2.66 | Automotive power socket, panel mount w/ lock nut | DigiKey | |
| 1 | $2.55 | Automotive power plug, internal screw terminals | DigiKey | |
| 1 | $6.11 | 6-stud (#10-32) junction block 30A | Wiring Products | |
| 1 | $5.04 | 16 ga. crimp ring terminal | Wiring Products | |
| 2 | $5.75 | 16 ga. stranded wire | Wiring Products |
At a cost of $274.16, it’s a bit pricey. It beats having a dead battery every morning though.
V e r y exciting. Also very cool (that’s a pun, yuk yuk).
